Student Resources Club

‘Student Resources’ is a club that seeks to help out struggling students and guide them towards academic success. The club is a melting pot of diverse personalities and beliefs, but our biggest strength is our open-mindedness and our determination to help. What the tutors of our club value most aren’t straight ‘A’s or impeccable report cards. More than anything else, we value improvement.

“We” are a group of grade 11 students who, armed with basic knowledge of our chosen subjects from our own experience as grade 9 students, have made it a point to help each struggling student with their respective battles in the academics. It hasn’t been easy—not every student is as eager to learn as we are to teach—and we’re still learning as we go. Every journey has its obstacles, and this one is ours. And if the ugly mix of discouragement and ignorance is the monster impeding our students’ roads to success, then we’ll do all we can to destroy it. We have 15 different weapons (tutors) in our arsenal, it should be easy enough.

We even come prepared with a plan should the monsters be birthed by circumstances beyond our control: group counselling. Once every month, the doors to group counselling open to allow our students a place to vent and talk about their concerns—whether it be student-resources-related or not. No matter how unbelievable the story or how severe the problem, our student counsellor is open to talk.

With a good balance of academic help and mental care, our club strives to bring indisputable improvement to Springfield’s struggling students. Our helping hand is outstretched, students. All you need to do is take it.
