Why does Springfield recruit teachers from overseas? 

Recruiting international teachers is essential for ensuring the effective implementation of an international curriculum. Expatriates are employed in a variety of roles including teaching native speaker level English and Mandarin. They play a pivotal role in enhancing students’ language proficiency and communication skills, preparing them to thrive in a globalized world.  They also ensure that the school is diverse and that curriculum and instruction is influenced by latest practices in international education. 

After 25 years of existence, what things have been done to continue to make the school relevant in responding to the challenges of the times?

We continue to update ourselves with a variety of research and theories on the latest educational developments. These things really help our teachers in understanding what is most effective in teaching and learning for the newest generation and in adapting new technologies to their teaching practices. In addition, we also continue to renew our accreditation Western Association of Schools and Colleges to ensure that the school meets the strict requirements of being an international school.

Apart from academics, how does SF develop social and emotional skills? 

SF develops social and emotional skills by creating a positive school climate, integrating character education, offering diverse extracurricular activities, engaging students in community service, special events, student meetings, retreats and weekly character building lessons.  This approach aims to create a supportive environment where students not only excel academically but also develop crucial life skills such as self-awareness, empathy, confidence, teamwork, and resilience, preparing them for success beyond the classroom.

How does Springfield address parents’ concern with the incredible advancement of technology and AI (artificial intelligence)? 

Current technological developments help learning in Springfield become unlimited. Through increasingly advanced technology, we are experiencing a dynamic transformation in Education. SF embraces technological developments by providing students with learning in Robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and STEAM. Today technology allows students to access global learning materials and empowers teachers with data that makes learning more focused and individualized. This progressive integration not only enriches the learning environment, but also equips students with the skills needed to succeed in an era of ever-changing technology.

Now that technology has permeated every area of society, are language skills still as important for students to master?

Language skills are more crucial than ever in our technology-driven society. China is the fastest growing country in the world with the 2nd largest GDP.
